Sa halagang P4

Had one of those unusual days again.

I woke early today to prepare for work and even had a chance to have breakfast with mommy. She kindly prepared me my water jug and 3 cookies as my baon. :p Feeling its going to be a very good day, I kissed mommy goodbye and I'm off to work. Even if it's too hot (only 8:30 in the morning) my umbrella and I walked from the house to the entrance of our Village, hailed a jeepney and got in. Once seated, I rummage my bag for my wallet to pay. Low and behold, my wallet is not in my bag! I frantically searched even if I know that I wont find my wallet but I did found P4 coins in the small pocket of my bag. Since I'm too far from the village to walk back, I told the driver that I only have P4 with me and if it's OK with him. Thank God he said OK and seems to understand my dilemma. I got down at SM terminal and realized another problem. I have no money to pay for my fare going to the office! >.< I went up to the booth (where people must pay first before hoping on the jeep) and talked to the Manong and told him I left my wallet and if I can ride the jeep but with the promise that Il pay him tomorrow. The 'barker' said, "OK lang suki naman si Ma'am!" I rode the jeep and got in the office 10minutes early.

Now I'm writing my post from the office where i realized that there are still kind people in the world. One way or the other, people still do understand where one's badluck or dilemma is coming from and didnt want to make it harder for them. Moments where we felt worried and helpless but help will always come our way.

Just like what the bible said, “Then Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?’” (Luke 12:22-26, NIV)

SM Accepts Challenge to 'Go Beyond the Hour'

SM GOES BEYOND 60
EARTH HOUR 2011

SM City Pampanga saved 353 KW for the one hour shut off and is going beyond. Earth Hour 2011 was celebrated last Saturday, March 26, simultaneously with all SM Supermalls across the country and the rest of the world.

The event was opened with a special fire dancing from the Tribal Dancers, Talentadong Pinoy Hall of Famer 2010. The world-wide event was supported by officials who share the same advocacy namely DENR Reg. 3 Director Lormelyn Claudio, Honeylet Gascon (Ms. Philippines Ecotourism),Pampanga Chamber President Mr. Jimenez, Provincial Tourism Officer Ray Arciga, Board Member Trina Dizon, Mexico Mayor Teddy Tumang, Board Member Ric Yabut, SM City Pampanga mall manager Lana Erroba, DENR Information Officer 1 Donrich DeDios, PAMCHAM Director Nestor Liwanag.

Going beyond is this years theme and SM has accepted the challenge. After the lights go back, SM's effort doesn't stop there. With the continuing efforts to help save Mother Earth activities like Green Film Festival to educate every Kapampangan students through free film showing, Trash to Cash every first Friday and Saturday of the month and the continuous use of ECO-bags in shopping.

Earth Hour started in 2007 at Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned off their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change. Only a year later, Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries participating. In the Philippines, 1,067 town and cities pledged participation in 2010 and over 15 million Filipinos participated in the event.

My family participates every year by switching off our lights by 8:30 of March 26but this is my very first formal celebration of Earth Hour and I made sure that my effort counts. This is  me writing on the pledge wall to contribute in saving Mother Earth and leading the prayer for the tsunami victims in Japan.

It is such a fulfilling feeling to be one of the million people to participate and be one in helping conserve our Planet Earth. I know that in my own little ways I helped make a difference.

On behalf of SM City Pampanga, I would like to thank the government officials, businessmen, Pampanga media and Kapampangan shoppers who participated on Earth Hour 2011 60+. I hope that after the lights go on, we will still go beyond the 60minutes.

'Cool-off' is so highschool

There are now two things I will never forget on the date March 26. Besides that it's the annual celebration of Earth Hour it is also the night I got dumped.

Yep.

There are just two signs to know that it is coming:
When you say 'I love you' they say ' I don't know how to reply to that anymore'
and
Tells you to have a 'Cool-off' to 're-establish' relationship

Yeah right.

Nothing more to say here.

But please see my next post on the very successful Earth Hour 2011.

Gcina Mhlophe-Becker

Young and young at heart Filipinos had a rare opportunity to see storytelling South African style as Gcina Mhlophe-Becher performed her remarkable narration, acting, and storytelling skills at the SM City Pampanga this February 21, 2011.

In this joint project between the South African Embassy and the SM Supermalls, Gcina treated 150 selected elementary students for University of the Assumption, San Loreanzo Ruiz, Basic Thoughts Learning Center and Golden Harvest Isntitue of learning to her award winning performances at the Newest Wing.

South Africa’s favorite teller of tales has had an extraordinary professional career and her achievements have had a profound impact on South African culture, arts, and heritage. Dedicated to preserving the art of storytelling as a means of keeping history alive, as well as to encourage and motivate children to read Gcina has been writing and performing on stage and on screen for more than twenty years.

By learning stories, we learn to communicate and say what we mean,” Gcina says in an interview with Leila Summers. “One of the reasons I love telling stories to young people is to encourage them to use words and language. Stories are a way of bonding the family, and yes, storytelling is healing.”

Gcina adds that “stories opens doors. It is trans-gender, trans-ages, trans-generations, trans-cultures, and trans-religions. And that is very empowering.” Her reason for traveling the world to share her storytelling skills? “I tell stories in order to wake up stories in other people,” she says. “Every living being has a story to tell.”
Inspired by her storytelling grandmother, she has earned her renown in poetry and storytelling since 1979; and has won 34 awards in publications and writing, as well as literature, storytelling, and her promotion of African culture. She is also a theater actress, and has won awards for her stage performances in New York, Chicago, Edinburgh, and Africa.

Hongkong Invasion

Such a beautiful place with a lot (i mean a lot) of stuff to see and do. A place you'l go back again and again to experience everything. It's such an adventure to discover Hongkong on your own unlike on a package tour. Fortunately, my cousin Jovy Lagman-Monasterio is a resident in Honkgong coz she's with Cathay Pacifi Airlines for quite sometime now. She and a roomate lives in Regal Airport Hotel for I think about 3 years now. Me and my companion, Clarissa, crashed her place for two nights since she has a flight to San Francisco the same day. She is such a sweetheart coz even my sisters who went to Hongkong stayed at her place and she's very kind and accomodating to share us her home. BTW, have I mention taht she's also my godmother? :) My favorite ninang to boot :D When I was very young I remember staying with her for a while (i dont remembr the reason) I knew about Disney princesses through her so when i was a kid I really thought she was one of the Disney Princesses. She will pass for one coz she has long black hair, tall and very very pretty. :) That's my ninang!

Feelinf more lucky in Hongkong, Cla and I were able to get in Disneyland for free! This time my thanks is to my siter Ranie whose BF Mon has a brother whose wife's father is a head chef at Disneyland Hotel. Confusing? O.o o well.. Thanks so much to Kuya Jay and Ate JEnny and her father Sam Ho for tission in Hongkong Disneyland. :) They are such a sweetheart.. A very cute couple if I may say so muself.. :) They tease each other as if they're not married yet. They even treated us to dinner at Heaven on Earth Chinese Reatsuarant in Central. The best chinese resto and ambiance I've ever been to! :) Thank you so much again Tito Sam, Ate Jenny and Kuya Jay! I will see you soon. :)

Speaking of Central, I was in awe more in Central than in Macau. It's like New York but cleaner (as if I've been to NY) But anyway, I really liked Central. I felt that I belong. You can find LV, Gucci, H7M and other brands and still have those 168 type of shops. :)

I also enjoyed th ecold weather (its still winter when we came to Macau-HK) I may not be prepared with the clothes Im bringing but I m glad I experienced these countries on winter since I came from the Philippines. :)

Experienced Macau

Got down the plane and was surprised how cold it was in Macau! To think Mom unpacked my sweaters, boots and neck warmer! O.O Waaaaah! The warmest I'm bring was my knee high socks. Now what good did it do, right? So I've no choice but to buy a coat. It's kinda cool but I still wich I brought my boots with me. They would really, really fit there. Experiencing Macau in winter is very cool. :)

What else is cool? My companion, Clarissa, and I found our way to Macau for ourselves. We were able to go to Fisherman's Wharf, A Ma Temple, Lighthouse, Senada Square and the breathtaking Ruins of St. Paul. It was a very adventurous trip, if I may say so myself.

What more can I can say about my trip in Macau? It's morelike a Las Vegas but Asia version. It's more on adult entertainment especially the Casinos. Almost all hotels has Casinos in it. It's a place wherein you'll really spend, as in spend your money. But I loved Senada Square. :) It felt like small Italy or Spain with the narrow and tiled roads. There are also a lot of stores that you can find here. I was fascinated with the bakeries and other food shops coz eveyr item they sell has free taste. Cla and I were so full we didnt had lunch anymore. :D

Celebrating 5 Years of Disneyland Hongkong

Feeling 12 again! Hongkong Disneyland was very fun! I was like an Energizer Bunny on the loose running from one gazebo to the other to take photos from Disney Characters. What's more, SnowWhite and Cinderella told me I'm PRETTY!!! :) Coming from two princesses makes me want to believe it! :D)

I just wish I bought an autograph book to have it signed. sigh! O well, I'm going back here anyway and this time with my Num-Nums! :D And I will buy the bag with matching wallet!

All-Editors Club

My first Kapihan with Pampanga's brilliant media people at SM City Clark Meeting Place.

At first, I was very intimidated being around Pampanga's notorious media especially with Mr. Bong Lacson (He has this strong personality that screams he's not someone you should be messing with)
but as the chitchat and food flows along, I find myself enjoying with their comapny. How was I to know that being with genious reporters can be so much fun unless i spend time with them? It's a good thing Venus and I had this impromptu get-together. It was really really fun. I can't wait for our next Kapihan.

A nice feeling to influence others to blog

March 1, 2011. My Num-Nums created her first entry blog and it's about our looove story.. It's such a very sweet gesture writing down how we met knowing that it happened 9 years ago. My partner remembering every details (even my mobile number then which Idon't even remember now) and the feelings was something I really appreciate from her.

I hope she'll be able to maintain her blog coz I like how she writes. She can put into words what's on her mind and her feelings. This way, I would know more about her thoughts without squeezing it out of her. :p
